2024 Content Predictions for Online Marketers
By the way, I made a video on this, so if you don't have time to read it, watch it.
Percs to being a newsletter subscriber is I provide more insights & the secret sauce for winning marketing.
Subscribe here if you haven't already. It's FREE
1. Get on long-form
Podcast
Newsletters
YouTube videos
Whatever it is, think about how you will tackle long-form content.
This is a must for your viewer's journey.
"Why?" you may ask.
Long-form content is your middle-of-funnel.
Your Goal: build a community of people who love your product/service.
Long-form content allows your viewers to spend more time with you. The more time someone spends with you, the more likely they will purchase your product/service.
Additionally, longer-form content allows you to give more value in a more significant volume.
Allowing you to build:
Trust
Authority
Value stack
All of your short forms should lead to your long form.
I have no concrete data to support this claim, but after talking to some top marketers and content creators. They all claimed over 50% of their sales come from long-form content.
2. UGC is dead
I've been saying this for a while.
I don't need to explain myself on this one.
Look at any brand running UGC and tell me if it's working.
Keep your brand to 1-2 faces max!
For the haters out there saying UGC still works. You may be correct, but I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket on this one.
Viewers want to form a connection with the content creator/brand. Spamming your page with multiple faces distances your brand from the connection.
3. Becoming a Media Company
In 2024, we will see many brands building their own filming studios and teams to create consistent content for social media.
This is a trend I started to recognize 2 years ago.
If you're a company able to produce content that viewers want to watch. This is the best form of marketing.
Instead of going to the influencer to promote the brand.
The brand becomes the influencer.
If you need help building your own team for social media content. Hire one of our editors who has expert-level skills for editing content for social media
4. IRL Streaming (Visual)
I have theories on this and where the creator economy is alongside the loneliness economy (video/newsletter to come).
IRL streaming is going to be the last content medium that doesn't get taken over by AI. But who knows, we may be watching robots live our best lives in the future.
Today, IRL Streaming is a modern-day reality TV show. Except the watchers are left to become the producers. Clipping up the drama on the stream and blasting on short-form platforms.
If you're a brand looking to do sponsorships. This may be a unique situation.
5. Podcast Vlogs
I'm bullish on this one if you are a creator with a company.
This is like "mind vlogging."
Instead of filming your physical daily activities, now, you sit down and film your thoughts for the day.
Podcasts may feel over-saturated at the moment. This isn't the case.
Podcasts can be one of the highest forms of content leverage. Especially if you're a busy entrepreneur.
Create one 30-minute video. Then clip up for top-of-funnel marketing that leads back to the pod.
People look for personal connections before making a purchasing decision.
Short-form only partially develops that connection.
Leading into long-form, like a podcast vlog, will allow your viewer to spend more time with you.
6.Education Content Is Dead
It's not; I like causing drama.
It's actually on the rise.
More than 50% of people watch YouTube videos for educational purposes.
Two things if you are using education content to market.
Educating videos aren't enough to get someone to watch.
You need to find unique ways to make an educational video enjoyable. Turning your content into "edutainment."
Education + Entertainment = Edutainment
Qoves Studio is an excellent example of edutainment.
Ask for something in return
More often than not. Many people lead with value-based content, getting millions of views but 0 sales.
They've never asked viewers to take the next step down the funnel.
People now expect value content. Which we all should be making.
But you will never get the sale without you asking for something in return. Rendering your education content useless.
Follow the 80/20 rule.
80% of content - Educational, Value-based, Edutainment
20% of content - Ask the viewer to take the next step down your funnel
